DESCRIPTION:Support the participants in our Women’s Reentry Project by becoming a mentor. This is a powerful opportunity to walk alongside a participant as she builds a new life post-incarceration. SUMMARY:Supervise MATCH Family Visits
DESCRIPTION:About the MATCH Program The MATCH Program at Arise Collective is a special initiative that honors and strengthens the bond between incarcerated mothers and their children. To become a “MATCH Mom”\, participants must first complete and graduate from a comprehensive parenting education class. This class covers essential topics such as communication\, co-parenting\, discipline\, and conflict resolution—empowering mothers to grow as parents\, even while separated from their children. \n\n\n\nUpon graduation\, MATCH Moms are granted special monthly visitation privileges at the MATCH Center—a warm\, home-like space located on the grounds of the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW). These three-hour visits are designed to nurture family connection in a meaningful and supportive environment. \n\n\n\nRole Description: MATCH Family Supervision \nVolunteers play a critical role in ensuring a safe\, meaningful experience for both mothers and children during their monthly visits. This role is ideal for volunteers who are compassionate\, responsible\, and comfortable holding space for others. \nPrimary Responsibilities \n\nSupervise 3 hour visits between MATCH moma and their children\nObserve visits and record basic observations\nEnsure participants follow MATCH Center guidelines and NCCIW regulations\nBe present to support mothers as needed\, providing gentle encouragement or assistance\nMaintain a calm\, supportive presence throughout the visit\nCommunicate any concerns to Arise Collective staff\n\nNote: Correctional officers are not present during MATCH visits. Volunteers are entrusted to help uphold the integrity and safety of the space. \nTraining Requirements \n\n\n\nVolunteer Basic Training (prerequisite)\nBlue Card Volunteer Training & Active Blue Card (prerequisite)\n1-hour MATCH supervision training held in the MATCH Center\n\n\n\nReady to Get Involved? \nBefore registering for the training\, you must have a Blue Card issued by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). This is a mandatory security clearance. \nIf you do not currently have a Blue Card\, please obtain one first. Once you’ve received it\, return here to sign up for the MATCH training. \nSubmit the form below to schedule.
