About This Role
Reentry Simulations give community members and partners an immersive, eye-opening look at what the first weeks after incarceration actually feel like. As a Reentry Simulation Volunteer, you help bring that experience to life — setting up the room before it begins, stepping into an assigned service-provider role during the simulation itself, and helping restore the space once it’s over.
What You’ll Do
Setup
- Arrive ahead of the simulation to help arrange the room into stations
- Set out props, signage, and station materials according to setup instructions
During the Simulation (Service-Provider Role) (as needed)
- Staff an assigned service-provider station if there are any station gaps (for example: employer, landlord, or probation officer) using the script and props provided
- Interact with simulation participants exactly as instructed, staying in character to preserve the realism of the exercise
- Follow Arise Collective staff direction throughout, including any adjustments made mid-simulation
Clean-Up
- Break down your station and return props, signage, and materials to their storage location
- Help reset the room to its original layout
- Report any damaged or missing materials to staff before you leave
