MATCH FAMILY SUPERVISION

ABOUT

The Mother’s and Their Children(MATCH) Program at Arise Collective is a special initiative that honors and strengthens the bond between incarcerated mothers and their children. To become a “MATCH Mom”, participants must first complete and graduate from a comprehensive parenting education class. This class covers essential topics such as communication, co-parenting, discipline, and conflict resolution—empowering mothers to grow as parents, even while separated from their children.

Upon graduation, MATCH Moms are granted special monthly visitation privileges at the MATCH Center—a warm, home-like space located on the grounds of the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW). These three-hour visits are designed to nurture family connection in a meaningful and supportive environment.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers supervise three-hour visits between MATCH Moms and their children in the MATCH center. Because correctional officers are not present during the visit, volunteers observe the visit and record their observations. Volunteers are present to facilitate the visit, ensure compliance with prison regulations, and provide backup support to the mother as needed during the visit.

Held inside the MATCH Center at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW).
This 1-hour, in-person training covers the logistics of supervising visits between incarcerated mothers and their children. Participants learn safety protocols, visit procedures, and how to support families during visitation.

Blue Card training is required to volunteer with MATCH.

The Blue Card Training is administered exclusively by the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections and grants clearance to enter correctional facilities. Training is offered multiple times throughout the year at various locations.
