JOBSTART: PATHWAYS TO POWER MENTOR
About
Jobstart: Pathways to Power is a 8-week occupational readiness cohort designed for women currently incarcerated at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) who are preparing for release. This intensive program equips participants to successfully reenter the workforce and community through structured professional development, life-skills training, and relational support.
Sessions are held Monday through Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC.
Through personalized coaching, workshops, and mentorship, participants gain practical tools, build confidence, and develop a foundation for long-term stability and success beyond incarceration.
We are currently seeking 10 dedicated mentors for our next cohort scheduled for August 2026. Mentors commit 1–2 hours per week (day TBD) to meet with participants, providing consistent support, encouragement, and accountability throughout the program.
A Blue Card is required and must be obtained through the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. All mentors are also required to complete our Volunteer & Mentor Basic Training, followed by a Mentoring Program Orientation & Training, to ensure they are equipped to serve with confidence and care.
The impact of a healthy mentoring relationship can be transformative. Consistent, supportive connections have been shown to increase a woman’s likelihood of successful reentry and reduce recidivism. Mentors play a critical role in helping participants build trust, strengthen decision-making, and navigate the transition back into the community.
If you are willing to show up, remain consistent, and invest in the life of another woman, we invite you to take the next step by submitting the interest form below.
